Knee Update
11:13AM 3rd Mar 13

Great news, met with the specialist last week and the knee isn't as bad as I thought.

Start back on a bike next week and back onto the rower in another 3-4 weeks. Really looking forward to loosing the crutches and getting into it.

So Danny just wondering when you are now scheduled to row the Tasman and is it still the Tasman or another ocean??? You started this dream back in 2009  with the Atlantic and then you decided upon the Indian and then the Pacific and finally the Tasman which was meant to commence last month but each time there is a postponement for one reason or another....is it actually going to happen???
Clearly a lot of people have invested a huge amount of time and money into you and your campaign. I would hate to think that a charity so close to my own heart is made a mockery of????

I am proud say I was one of those who encouraged the postponement, blame me if you want! When I saw Danny’s post on Facebook late last year about the weather window opening in 11 weeks I felt we weren't ready nor were going to be ready even if 1 day later all of the required funding and shortfalls in support landed on the doorstep.
It did not allow sufficient time for proper preparation and would not have left enough time to fully condition himself and the boat and risk missing the goal.
I contacted Danny as I personally believed we should review and look at postponing to look at a later window and another year would just mean we are better prepared. This would give Danny a lot more time to train, learn the boat and optimize systems and procedures.
We have discussed many times as a team that so many of the other ocean rowing challenges that we have read about and seen fail have done so because they did not have sufficient time on the water preparing,  I do not want to be part of a team that makes the same mistakes that I heavily criticize.
I know it must have been a tough decision for Danny and he didn't want to be seen to be putting it off but as I understand it, the fundamental cause for the lack of time on the water is not being able to secure a prime sponsor, equipment etcetera soon enough, everyone must understand this and appreciate the efforts that have gone to chasing sponsors in what had been very tough financial times. Danny is not the only ocean rower that is currently finding how hard the sponsorship market is, we are working with a few others in Europe. In time this has to change and a key sponsor will come on board that appreciates that Danny is taking his challenge and supporters seriously and doing it right.
I am sure followers will respect the decision to postpone and if they don’t they are not aware of how important good preparation is.
As both designer, sponsor and a personal supporter of the campaign I am very proud that Danny has made the right decision in postponing in the interests of a full and proper build up period.
If a job is worth doing it is worth doing well, why else bother….

Sounds like its time for a cup of tea.  Keep up the charge Dan, stay vulnerable.  An awesome and improbable journey/project with so many powerful positives.  I'm proud to be involved in a small way as a mate.  "What we don't know will have a greater influence than what we do know" - The black swan - the impact of the highly improbable

You are building an amazing family of sponsors!
So are you still walking around like that?? I'm not sure how long I could cope with it.
Hey Alana - it's at $850 now. Come on all, give a little. . . if we sacrifice a bottle of wine each week (AFD anyone?)and put the proceeds to the cause, we'll make Alana's goal in no time!
